Verbs are action words. There are some special words that are verbs that don’t seem like action words but they are verbs anyway. So, besides action words, which are always verbs here is a list of other verbs:

Reading Comprehension
Read the following story. Circle the nouns. Nouns are things like Mary, tree, wall. Put a square around the verbs. Verbs are action words like read, learned, walked, talked. Action words are something you do.
Mary
Mary learned to read. She wanted to go to school, but there were no schools for black children in South Carolina. Then a school for black children opened. Mary loved learning and after graduating became a teacher. She opened her own school for black students. Mary taught her students. Mary believed that all people are important and should have the right to learn.
